There are different reasons that people "leave" UPC. Some are NOT bad reasons.
All you really should feel sorry for are the ones that have walked away from God.

Randy, there was NO attempt to "get" you. I was sincerely curious in my question. Randy - I agree that it is sad to see where some have gone and are going - however, you expressed your opinion in a very judgmental and condescending way. THAT is what bother me about your remarks!
I know that he has abstained from attending family and friends events over this "stuff" - however, I also know that he has "shunned" events that are totally church related because his personality is just not the "social" kind. I have known of his wife and children to attend such events when he didn't. (even those non-church related) So that argument doesn't hold water.... I personally believe that he has "shunned" some things because it is his personality.
I also know that his grandfather (whom we all loved & respected) continued to host and welcome ALL his family members - and that family runs the gamut from UC to those who have walked away from any semblance of what we teach (doctrinally & dress) with everything in between.

I am thankful there are those who were who still believe in seperation from the World in spirit and in dress...hopefully they would be a light to those who have allowed the spirit of world back in their lives...it is sad to see how far folks have gone away from their Apostolic Heritage... Hopefully some day they will make their way back...

I found the pics to be sad... sad for those who have left the Apostlic Church to go the way they have...
and yes I'm thankful for friends and yes I have some who have left the Apostolic Faith and Heritage they were once a part of and remain their friend but still completely disagree with the road they have taken ...
and no I would not have attended an event like the reunion in this thread even if it was a College I attended...
I don't see it as a Celebration of Friends and this in only my opnion...I see it as a complete justification of the new life and liberties some now lead....and again this in only my opinion....sad as some of you feel it may be...
Sorry to disappoint some of you... but I can't accept that Love is always accepting of every sinful decision of those who have walked away from Truth...
One thing about the prodical Son that is interesting is that the Father never left Home to Search for His Son... although when the Son decided to Come back Home Dad was Waiting for him... I pray that those who left Home would make the decision to come back... Because I do believe that God will be waiting for them...

The Father never sat there and went "Look at him, how disgusting"..Randy if you're intent (and I don't think it was) was to work for God to bring these poor lost souls back home, you screwed up bigtime. For most people that leave it was not the standards but the arrogant, judgmental and elitist attitude of people like you that made them leave and you can be sure there is no way the way you post is going to convince them to return. It just reinforces their opinion of the UPC and others like you.

But seriously, what about your own views of what everyone should believe and do? The post you quoted simply expressed sadness over people who (in his view) left the truth. Aren't you sad for people who have left (your view of) the real truth? He also hoped they would return. Don't you hope, e.g, I will return?
