Pregnancy and child birth do quite a lot to a woman's body. I've been told that during labor a woman has never been closer to death. I think this might be scary for some women. Not to mention the hormonal ups and downs, gained weight, soreness, sickness, and possible complications that could threaten life and health. While the vast majority navigate these waters without any long lasting harm, a few women do have terrible pregnancies and complicated labors that leave them in serious condition. For some women the possiblity of going through something like that might be terrifying, even if it's only a 2% chance.

I don't know. I don't want to criticize her too much without knowing the specifics of exactly what she's thinking.
