I think this is a very important point. Oftentimes in certain church cultures, there is so much responsibility placed on the believer to cry, yell, scream, moan, groan, etc...all in a specific effort to touch the throne room and petition God so that He will answer our prayers. And oftentimes we are told to pray for a specific amount of time ie. "Sweet Hour of Prayer". Prayer then becomes a very structured chore, doesn't it? Not saying these things are wrong in the proper context, but I can see how it could leave many people disillusioned with prayer.

Absolutely, and I think God has been trying to teach me this for a while... often by answering most in the small prayers. I would put off praying seriously about some things thinking "I just don't have time right now to seriously get ahold of heaven" but then turn around and quietly ask for something and it be answered immediately. I have started looking at things differently than the way I was raised.

It doesn't have anything to do with how or what I have done. He already did it all.. I just have to believe...it just takes faith in him. If I truly beleive in him, why would I need to try and work at it myself? Really makes no sense.
