Amen, why should anyone else be exempt from what the people who first heard the message on the day of Pentecost was told they must do ?

Acts 2:37 ....Men and brethren, what shall we do?

Acts 9:6 ....it shall be told thee what thou must do.

Acts 10:6 ....he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.

It makes perfect scriptural sense to expect that the Acts 2:38 response to Acts 2:37's question "what shall we do?" would stay consistant from the day of Pentecost onward.

That has been my thought as well - Why should anyone be exempt from what the people, who first heard the message, on the day of Pentecost were instructed to do?

Dodge all around the scripture if you want. Romans 8:14 stands. It tells us that Cornelius was a son of God when he was led by the Spirit of God.

The question you have asked is: what about those men who are led in some way by the Spirit of God before they have even heard of Christ. Are they also sons of God based upon Romans 8:14?

I answer that there are two kinds of being led by the Spirit of God. One kind is apart from God's indwelling Spirit and one kind is by God's indwelling Spirit. Romans 8:14 is speaking of being led by God's indwelling Spirit for it can only make sense to speak of those with God's indwelling Spirit as children of God.

The epistles were written to churches, people already saved after obeying the message Peter preached on the day of Pentecost, it does not negate what Peter already said we had to do in Acts 2:38, repentence, baptism in Jesus name, and receiving the Holy Ghost do not seem to be mere suggestions, but a clear response to the question asked in Acts 2:37 as to what they had to do :-)

The epistles were written to people that were already saved. However, some statements are true regardless of who you are telling them to. Romans 8:14 is one such statement and so its meaning wouldn't change any had it been to sinners.

I would say what you did about Acts 2:38 the other way. I would say that what Peter said cannot negate what Romans 8:14 says. Chew on that a while...

Reguardless, Acts 2:38 was what people were told they had to do, and other scriptures are not going to change that, they may explain various aspects related to salvation, but they do not change the requirements that Peter preached on the day of Pentecost.

Regardless, Romans 8:14 tell us that those led by the Spirit of God are sons of God and Romans 8:17 tells us that the children of God are joint heirs with Christ. If I was a joint heir with Christ I would feel confident in my salvation Are you saying those called joint heirs with Christ are not saved?

I'm saying that ALL of what the Bible says is required is a must is you expect to make Heaven, and there are scriptures that show the necessity of repentence, others that show the necessity of baptism in Jesus name, others that show the necessity of receiving the Holy Ghost, others that show the necessity of enduring faithful to the end, ect.

We must obey ALL of what the Bible says and not just go by some aspects that a few scriptures focus on.

(going to be busy for a while, will check back later y'all :-)

The requirements for salvation are singular: BELIEVE.

If you believe, you will repent and if you are taught, you will be baptized.

But the infilling of the Holy Ghost-- can you see that this is something that we don't do and thus, can't be a requirement for us to fulfil because we can't do it in the first place?

If God doesn't answer every prayer, why would we expect Him to pour tongues out on every one who converts? That wasn't even the case in the Bible so how is it now?
