Turkey. Cranberry sauce. Pumpkin Pie. Taters. Stuffing. EGG NOG (yum).
We don't have egg nog in Newfoundland at Thanksgiving, only at Christmas. Different traditions in different parts of the country, but the main part of the feast is the same hey?
Hi Hoovie,
Those stories are not big here, Canada was founded differently, although they are taught in schools as part of history. When the Mayflower came over Newfoundland was long settled. St. John's, Newfoundland is the oldest settlement in North America, Cupids, Newfoundland was established in 1610. Canada's Thanksgiving isn't as old as your though, and is more of a Thanksgiving for the blessings we have been given, the things we have, for families and friends and for the harvest.
And, of course, most of all, we give thanks that we had the good fortune to be born Canadian.
Just wondering...........was today a big day for weddings because of the 10-10-10??
Heard a stat this morning from David's Bridal that said 35,000 brides planned their wedding for 10-10-10. Don't know how accurate that is though.
Well, I did find this -
It is unknown how many thousands will marry on 10/10/10 in America, but national retailer David's Bridal reports that it had almost 40,000 couples registered for weddings on that date at stores throughout the country, including Northridge and Burbank.
A brother pointed out to me this weekend that 10X10X10 were the dimensions of the Most Holy Place in Solomon's temple!
Our dinner was great, btw!
