That can be very good too.

We only use venison in a few ways. Sausage/jerky, tenderloins, and steaks.

My wife won't use the ground meat.

When we mix the burger, we mix 2/3 venison and 1/3 hamburger. It tastes less gamey that way. We use the burger all the time and don't even like beef usually.

I am sure it is simply what one gets accustomed to.

actually the horse wasn't all that bad. We didn't even know at the time that that is what it was.

We did eat muskrat. Mom says we had it more often than I knew. I remember distinctly eating it one time. She had made what we thought was BBQ beef sandwiches for afterschool snacks one day. But they were awful! We told her so and she let us know it was muskrat.

Horse --- deer.............. what's the difference? not alot.

I just think of our poor REX. He pulled our buggy for over two decades... God forbid we would have rewarded him by having him for dinner!

ya, well, see, we only had a horse one time in my life. That didn't last even a whole summer. Which was fine with me cuz I didn't like horses anyway. Never have.

Plus, who needed a horse when we could hope up on the cow and ride them up the lane (as long as you got off before Grandma could see you! Cuz she'd have a hissy fit if she saw you on her cows back! I guess that would be the reason we only did that a few times, now that I think back on it) LOL

Re: Butchered A Beef

She may be referring to squirrels as rodents, which, by the way, I have eaten a lot of in my life. It is good if you know how to cook it.
