Mt 26:52 Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.
Jesus was speaking this to Peter, His disciple. Does this apply to all of us or was it only relevant to that one situation?
Jesus could have called a legion of angels to fight for Him but He didn't and He left us an example of how we are to be in this life, in this dark world. Harmless as doves and wise as serpents.

If you really wanted to help me, you'd make me a deal on one of them guns you have, preferably a shotgun. I don't have one now. When can I expect a phone call or email with a price? 
It's incredible how you are trying to use the example of martyrs to justify not protecting our families. My guess is if some nut were to break into your house and take one step towards your wife you'd do everything in your power to stop him, including taking him out if that's what it took.

If it works against demons, won't it work against sinners?
