BTW, I can believe that someone somewhere is bashing Tebow for stating he's a Christian. Sure. Some poeple hate Christians just for being Christians. But is it common in "the media" as some like to say? Is it common enough and public enough to merit a cartoon or a meme?!

I think this is a good example of how the media handles the issue.
Quote:
ESPN Apologizes for Commentator's Christian Worldview on Homosexuality
While the left lectures Americans about the historic breakthrough made by NBA free agent Jason Collins in announcing his sexuality and calls for well-deserved tolerance, they are on full-out attack against ESPN commentator Chris Broussard for expressing his Christian views. And now ESPN has been forced to apologize.
That's an example of "bashing" for expressing views on homosexuality. Not for someone stating that he is a Christian.
ESPN is apologizing for Broussard's Christian view and that is not bigoted? It's okay to talk about being gay, but it's not okay for anyone else to have an opinion? It simply is pushing the narrative that the Bible is irrelevant. It seems the left that touts being the most "tolerant" among us are the least "tolerant" of all.

You make some good points. But I think some are overstating the "bashing" that actually goes on. I still haven't seen an example in the media of bashing someone for stating that they are a Christian.

You know, it didn't even bother me much when Carrie Prejean gave her opinion on marriage in the Miss USA contest. And I agree that the gay judge (his name escapes me, sorry) set her up for it and overreacted (way over!) to her response. It was uncalled for and very mean-spirited. He should have let it drop. But it's free speech! I can say "he shouldn't have said what he said" while at the same time defending his right to say it. And Carrie Prejean's right to say what she said.
And Carrie had the right to brag about what she said, too!

You know what the problem with this was? Her personal life didn't line up with her beliefs, which eventually came out. And, I think, that is what is also causing a problem in the Christian world. Being that we have the same stats on marriage and failure, overall, it's going to come back to bite us.

Yep. But that's a whole nuther topic.

Right and probably, partly, why ESPN wanted to apologize. LOL! I was in a discussion on Twitter a couple of weeks ago, went on for hours! Basically, those chiming in had been really hurt by a Christian at some point in their life, which hurts most of all, and now hate "organized religion". It's not religion that hurts you, or God, it's people. "Woe unto the world because of offenses! for it must needs be that offenses come; but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!" Matthew 18:7
Unless, IMO, you are continually in touch with God, I don't know how you can recover from hurt emanating from the church. And when you claim to be Conservative, like the Republican party does, you get the most scrutiny.
