One. And he REALLY had it coming. I know one I've wanted to hit, you might know him.
How many cops have you hit?

I always liked kicking them in the shin first, they never expected it.......
I don't fight anymore though.

Oh I could see clearly where your analogy was going! What a great story, and a clear picture of the abuse that people suffer at the hands of those who have "silver tongues".
I could see the picture you painted as well, as suffering again, and again at the hands of those you trusted.
There is still life in you ILG! From this bitter experience, there can come greater, more beautiful things. I believe it with all my heart, because of Calvary.
Thanks KBTW! I'm glad you appreciate the story and took something from it.
I don't doubt there is life in me. I know there is. Some people can't see that though. All they see is that I don't ride a horse. So, I just keep on walking and knowing that it doesn't matter what they think. Most of them have been thrown a couple of times and gotten back on and are patting themselves on the back for getting back on. They think what they have been through is the same thing as what I have been through, but I don't think so. I really don't.

In my HUMBLE opinion, what creates more hurts and deep wounds in a church is the inability, or unwillingness to confront issues head on and work them out. If we could all do that, I think the church would be a much happier place.
But, again, just my two cents.........
Yes, that is exactly right. People don't want to deal with it. For some reason, they think it makes God look bad.

I doubt it. There are lots of loving congregations out there. Go visit a church and talk to the pastor. Talk it over with him and see how he feels. It doesn't h have to be a UPC
There are lots of good horses too. Unfortunately after getting thrown all those times, you get to the point where you can't get on one anymore. It didn't start with the brave....the brave did what he was told and kept getting back on the horse. But those that told him to get on didn't care how often he was thrown, until he was completely broken. Now, it hurts to even walk, much less get on a horse and ride. He will be in pain for the rest of his life. That's not his fault. He just can't ride now.
