All of the psychological story analogies have never done anything for me. It's like trying to find a story to suit the circumstance for my own benefit. It's just not enough. Never has been, never will be.

I want to know what the scriptures are telling me. I want to weigh my thoughts, my actions and my decisions by his Word. I've been through enough to know that He's going to take care of me.

"No weapon formed against me shall prosper." My view of that scripture is that I won't be destroyed. I have been in the place where I wanted people to KNOW and UNDERSTAND the dishonesty of the people who hurt me, but I didn't get it. What happened is that God took care of me and my family. That was the weapon that couldn't prosper against me.

I have some painful stories, but God has been too good to me to dwell there.
Good post!

Just because someone does not like an analogy or agree with a post does NOT mean that cannot understand when one hurts. It's not judging the person, it's merely disagreeing with a post.

There comes a time when we have to let things go and move on.

Okay...now it's my turn...really let me have it and tell me I'm insensitive.
Maybe "no one understands" is an overstatement. But there are definitely some who do not. Or at least who choose not to have any empathy. Many examples of that here on AFF. E.g.,

Most folks are self made victims. They don't love church because they don't love God. It is that simple. Who hadn't been hurt in church-job-family-neighborhood-school-friends? That is a cop out for folks who are unruly and love to be miserable.

I'm done with this conversation now. The stone throwing is getting on my nerves and I don't have to put up with it. So I won't.

Re: Just Some Things I've Been Holding In

We all have our own opinions, our own pain, our own way of dealing with things, as the Lord leads and guides us. Not one of us is the same. We should not cast stones on others as they deal with things in their lives, only pray for them, and encourage them. Until we have truly walked in someone else's shoes, we cannot truly know what kind of burden they carry.

I would rather pray for and encourage someone than to say or do things that would discourage or tear them down. Let the Lord deal with their hearts in HIS own time to bring them to the place He desires them to be, knowing that He deals with each one of us differently.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I'm praying for Matt, I'm praying for ILG and I'm praying for all the others who have expressed having to deal with ongoing pain and sorrow in their hearts. Only the Lord Jesus can truly release their pain and bring true healing. Casting stones in their direction without first spending time in prayer for them will not bring about a change or difference in their lives.

For those of you who think you know the answers, and how someone else should live their life, have you spent time in prayer for them first, before offering any advice?

Ah well... I probably should not say any more on this conversation either, because after all, it is only the Lord Jesus himself who can truly work in someone's life, and I certainly don't have the answers.

And I am praying for them as well. As a matter of fact, I have prayed for ILG since the FCF days, but there comes a time when things have to be said.

Not every disagreeing post or opinion is judging or casting stones.

People are hurt everyday, and it is not fun...I say again, trust me that I speak what I know.

Today I have been dealing with a situation that is quite close to home, so I truly know.

There are going to be folks all the time who don't understand, so what?

Opinions are like noses...we all have one and some are uglier than others, but I refuse to let the ugliness of someone's attitude define who I am or keep me in a constant state of I don't know what.

Your post reminds me of a story my former pastor used to love to tell...

When he was growing up, there was a Mother in the church who constantly told folks with a sickness or problem, "Child, just tell the devil he's a liar!"

She said this for years, until one day, Mother got sick.

One of the young'uns in the church said, "Mother, just tell the devil he's a liar!"

And Mother replied, "Yes, but honey, he ain't lying this time!"

That's the way many do...they simply can't see a sorrowful day until they are in a sorrowful state.

But bemoaning their lack of comprehension doesn't make life sweeter...

I agree. And I have found, from experience, that a person in a conversation who appears the most touchy, citing criticism, is the one that, generally, doesn't want to face that they may have been part of the problem as well.

Just like in a marriage - there a two sides to every story, and generally neither one is blameless to some degree. One may be more abusive, but the other has issues they need to look at and correct as well.
