It is either fact of fiction that we are free from the grip of sin. I believe Rom 6 states very plainly that we are no longer in bondage to sins sway. So my only recourse is that if I fall into a temptation, it is because I chose to do so, and allowed myself to do so. There is no "the devil made me do it" excuses. My how we have lived so beneath the place that God has prepared for us.

It comes down to a choice for the born again saint. God will not force us, and since we are a new creature in Christ, the sinful man cannot force us either, as we are free from the bondage.
Yahooo! Amen! That is why Paul used the word YIELD when he said do not yield yourselves as servants to sin. We never knew it was our choice, but Paul reveals it cxertainly is. But when we do not know that, we EXPECT TO SIN. And that means we lack faith that we do not have to.

J-Roc,

You are correct. No one can do this. Only Jesus was perfect and without sin. But God does not ask you to do it. He asks that you just allow his spirit to become the dominating force in your life, and he will live his life through you. Your only part is the choosing this day whom you will serve. Either the carnal, or the spiritual.

I know some people and I think Elder Epley knows them also. They think you are not born again until there is NO sin in you for a born again person cannot sin...
If that be true then most of us are NOT born again for at some point or the other we sin...in deed or in thought or in actions...What do you all think?

Of course it is. But our interpretation of it is what brings problems or correctness.

I preach more out of Rom 6 and 7 than ANYTHING ELSE lately. I know Rom 7 is scripture.

The same epistle they probably use, 1 John, that says if we have God's seed in us we cannot sin, also says that IF WE SIN we have an advocate. So those of whom you speak are mistaken, sister.

SIN IS STILL IN OUR FLESH. We just keep it dormant by refusing to use flesh to serve God, but instead rely upon the Spirit to serve Him. That is what Paul meant when he said sin was in his flesh and was revived when he resorted to LAW to serve God. We must serve Him by reliance on His Spirit. And the 5th chapter of Gal that says we will not fulfill lusts of the flesh if we walk in the Spirit, also says that the results or FRUIT of the Spirit have no law against them! We do things that law cannot point a finger at, although we never even resorted to law to do them, but instead to the POWER OF THE SPIRIT.

As soon as we resort to flesh and self effort, sin rises up and slays us all over again.

You got it perfectly!

Only JESUS can live this life. That is why Paul said CHRIST LIVED IN HIM.

Aren't we all. But the Lord wants us to walk in the Spirit.

They are wonderful people I have known them all my life and in all these years they do not have ONE person born again. The pastor and his dear wife both died not claiming to be born again of course they were whether they knew it or not.
