I don't believe the Bible "promotes" polygamy, as much as it simply records it.
As for me...I don't see it as particularly
anti-biblical, however, I do believe that it falls outside of a man and woman becoming "one", and other principles for marriage encouraged in scripture. Personally, a polygamist would be someone I would not fellowship with, at least within our western culture, even if he claimed to be a Christian. I find it to be repugnant, for various reasons.
Foreign countries and different cultures might be a little easier to stomach, and certainly can't be helped. I just find it to be personally offensive, whether the Bible forbids it or not.
