No, I've only watched a couple of youtube episodes. It's reality TV, which usually has the wack factor!

Yes, I think that makes good sense.

Re: For Randy Wayne
I saw one youtube episode where a family stored a massive amount of food and medicine. The woman and her daughter are diabetic and she had a massive amount of insulin stored also.
They had firearms in case people showed up at their door to take what they had prepped all these years.
This was a true reality show though. It turned out that the enemy was not 'out there'. The enemy was each other.
They got divorced. The judge gave him the land and house, she got all the prepped items. She only had to go and get it from the land, which he was guarding with the guns!
Did it do them any good? I'd say it did for the man.

Re: For Randy Wayne
One of the thing that irritates me about the show is that each featured prepper starts with "I am preparing for......", then they go into their preps, and finally end their segment with "Experts generally agree that the possibility of <fill in the blank> is unlikely." I guess that is fine for some of the more outlandish things that some are worrying about, but when it comes to financial collapse and/or hyper inflation, I could care less what their "experts" say, it is a certainty. The only question is when.

Re: For Randy Wayne
I would get on the show IF I was allowed to start off with "I am preparing the imminent threat of our Sun going nova!"

I think that sounds great. I do some things like this morning I tapped a few trees. I have a number to go.

You need to use your resources.
Now if I could figure out how to tap one of THESE, I would be all set! (They are everywhere here!)

Of course besides food I am also stock piling things like ammo (and guns), rechargeable batteries and a couple of solar panels capable of charging them, several walkie talkies as well as a small HAM radio, and MANY ways of starting fires.

You'll need that ammo if there is a food run. I try to do things that are very practical. I would not buy survival food personally, I would get stuff I will use anyway and rotate it.

Yes, I think even on here a person should think about that!

It is VERY hard to have a garden here in the north. You need a greenhouse. I hope to get one for this summer. I did put up a LOT of vegetables last summer that we bought at a local produce stand for next to nothing. Makes me wonder if gardening here is worth all the trouble, when I can get such great veggies down the street and can them.
Have you ever tried dehydrating? I was listening to a lady speak about the fact that with dehydration that you keep about 80% of the nutrients, while in canning, you lose about 80% of the nutrients!
It is just that dehydrating is so time consuming, which is why we haven't tried it.
