If I might humbly submit this...

In Genesis 28:20-22, Jacob vows a vow of honor to God, establishing a tithing covenant, to give the tenth of all that God will give him.

The way I believe NT tithing is that it is not based on Levitical Law, but given in honor as God has prospered a believer. Established by Abraham and Jacob, under the Melchisedec Order, not the Levitical Priesthood, given and not paid.
