Timmy, I've understood Nahkoe's comments the same -- but they seemed to go beyond that, based on her statements. It was a straw man, if you will -- of course prevention is helpful, but the other part of this entire discussion was the "dangers" that are inherent with higher learning. The casualties are great. Some have "died" and others just simply walk "maimed."
Thinking idealistically that the average parent is going to keep up with Doctor Smith at Princeton University is wishful at best. Our parenting can help them 1) think critically, 2) prep them for what they will encounter as best we can and 3) equip them with a foundation. I'm certainly not arguing against that.
If I've misunderstood Nahkoe, then forgive me. It seems parenting was a fix-all, while not acknowledging the "evil professors" as one poster put it.
If this was a misunderstanding and we are arguing parallel points, well how 'bout that...
