I have people approach me all time - even "church people" - who I haven't seen for a while. They lift up my left hand and comment on the absence of a wedding band. People actually take hold of my hand and lift it up for inspection!
This is then followed by some inane noise that I suppose is intended to be soothing and comforting. Dudettes! Let go of my hand. If I were trolling for dates then I'd wear a leisure suit, a hair piece and gold "disco" chains.
As far as girls go - I didn't buy my wife a ring because her dad had frowned so seriously on the idea. He even stated that he would refuse to do a wedding ceremony that involved a ring in any way. About a week or two after we were married my wife was digging around and found my grandmother's wedding band and claimed it for herself. She said she was tired of all the "hassles" at work and other places. Nice. I felt like a worm.
