True, while most are varying shades of conservative, with a sprinkling of liberal churches in the mix. That always keeps things fun and exciting and interesting at camp meeting!!!
Oh yes...and much gossip to come home with. "Did you see how short Sis. soandso's skirt was!" GASP!!! LOLOLOL
A lot of families are close, but live apart. A son or daughter goes off to college and gets a job offer in a different city.
Living in a family commune means one of the following:
1. Parents want influence and some control over adult children
2. The adult child has given in to guilt against moving away on their own.
3. The parental bond is stronger than the marriage bond.
4. The parents had firm control of the children growing up.
5. The children probably never left home to go to college. (local college only)
wow, I could not disagree more. my own family being a case in point. the clan was headed by a baptist. my dad (the god fathers oldest son) became pentecostal as a young adult.
none of his kids went to church with him and every one of them went their own way in life.... but my dad and 2 aunts lived within a few hundred yards of my grandparents most of their lives. no control issies at all. one more kid lived very close for a long time before moving 45 miles away. and the 5th was in the Airforce for 20 years and moved back at retiremetn to be close to the my grandparents.
you have a wacky sense view of a close family.

Are saying it can NEVER be they just love and enjoy each other??????????
I do not argue that some of what you say no doubt is prevailent in some cases but I have known families that just love each other without control issues they are just close.
I believe all families that live close to each other LOVE each other! Maybe some do love and respect their parents so strongly that they want to live next door to them their entire life.
Maybe I'm weird, but I loved and respected my parent very much, but I had no desire to move next door to them. I wanted to be on my own. This doesn't mean that I loved them any less than those who choose to live next door!

Go figure. I always wanted to share a back yard with my parents and I am now 300 miles away.
I would move back tomorrow if the oppurtunity presented itself.

One son and his wife and a group went to one of our churches tonight, another son and his wife went to another one of the churches, another son and his wife went with my husband and guess what? I am baby sitting...and supposed to answer some letters...
Youngest son went to play the guitar at one of the churches...and I do hope our kids in the south are in some of the churches down that way...
My mother loved it here with us...she left to glory from here...
Close families are wondeful.
I guess I must be conservative, cause we're thinking about buying a bunch of acreage to entice our kids to stay close by. My kids are my life! My in-laws will always live close by us.
Yes, he sure does, because not everybody and everything in Oregon is conservative, much less 'ultra con'.
