Maybe He'd test you to see if you would obey Him and (maybe) stop you just in time, like He did Abraham. (Sorry to say, He didn't stop Deanna Laney.)

To compare the father of the seed of Israel, who had walked with God all his life, to a crazy woman who's God was satan no doubt, its insanity.
I don't know God's voice like Abraham did, so no, I wouldn't kill my neighbor. God would have to do some super powerful convincing - kinda Moses and the Burning bush type stuff before I would even start considering what I heard was God. And even then, I have instructions otherwise so I might disobey and hope for grace
He asked Abraham because his son was the most precious thing in his life, yet he willingly would give it up to serve his God.
If you doubt SO much of the scripture, how can you believe ANY of it? I believe the original manuscripts were divine and perfectly correct. I feel our translations aren't very far off base, but might indeed contain some err. But if I felt like ANY of the obviously stated material was not true, I couldn't believe ANY of it. That kinda defeats the whole purpose. Taking what you like, or what makes sense to you isn't.
I do understand where you come from, and how easy it is to feel the way you do. It's just not correct to pick and choose what you believe - if you claim to be apostolic.
