Re: How to Save Money

I have a friend that uses the slivers to put into a liquid hand soap dispenser with water and you have homemade liquid hand soap.

That's a good suggestion too.

Re: How to Save Money

Set yourself a budget for groceries before shopping. Go to an ATM and get that amount in cash. By paying in cash, you see your money physically disappear, which hurts. You'll end up being more frugal.

Stop the newspaper delivery. You can get the news off the internet.

Grow your own veggie garden in your back yard.

Learn to sew your own clothes.

If you have a cell phone, do away with your wired home line.

sew your own clothes?? NOT. in fact, i think it's just as cheap to
buy clothes then it is to sew. This wasn't the case years ago but it
is today for the most part.

You can't get internet service w/o a land line

Re: How to Save Money

When I buy cream rinse, I save the old bottle and poor half of the new bottle into it. Then I fill both with water, shake them up and get 2 bottles for the price of one.

I also buy knee high stockings, since when I wear dresses, I wear long ones. So the tops don't show anyway. Then if one gets a run or a hole, I just throw that one out and not the whole pair, like most people do with pantyhose.

I've always had connections for clothes for both of my boys. Friends who have boys one or two sizes larger than my kids. They pass on their kids clothes to me. And I pass on my kids clothes to several other people who have boys just smaller than mine. I actually buy my kids very few clothes. And when I do - I used to be able to go to Value City to get them. If you have a Value City near you, check it out! CHEAP, brand name stuff.

Re: How to Save Money

We use the Sears & Roebuck catalog instead of toilet paper. We save a ton of money!

Well, it's not as cheap as when the catalogs were free!

Did you hear about that woman who wanted to save the environment by only allowing one sheet of toilet paper? I think we would use a lot more water and soap, washing our hands!

Re: How to Save Money

Going out to eat is very expensive. But on those occasions that you do, if you are trying to do it cheaply, go to McDonalds and order off the dollar menu and get water. That's pretty cheap. Other cost savers are always order water rather than soda. Use coupons, lots of restaurants allow those. Or order the soup and salad.

But can you work the crossword puzzle on line? If not, I couldn't get away with cancelling the paper. My husband is addicted to those puzzles!
