My church could be classified as ultra con (from where I stand) and I do not follow the standards. It is NO SECRET. But, for example, I don't wear pants to church. Neither would I wear them to another saints house. Around town and at work I do often. When I see other members I do not hide or run the other way. I greet them like any other time. But then again - it's not in their home or territory so to speak.
I guess I don't see it any different as smoking. I don't smoke. I would not allow someone to smoke at my house... But in public settings - not my business....

You make an excellent assesment of the situation. The real balancing act is truly NOT to offend, yet also NOT to hide. Those who are prone to being easily offended will of course react to ANY activity they are against IF they see it or know about it.
I remember the early days in the church when we would remove our TV whenever someone from church came over to visit. How I WISH I could go back in time and relive those days -doing certain things just a tiny bit different.
