So when you smash them again.... I'm not picturing how that works. You smash them to a pulp, then fry them like a pancake? Reshape them? or...????
I really like the ripe plantain too. I just wish I could get them to the table!

I love them just salted, but they are amazing with a garlic/oil sauce too.

I bought the ingredients for this today, too, so I'm going to try it this weekend. I'm looking forward to it!

Unfortunately, Kroger didn't have plantains today. Sometimes they do. I'll have to go to the Mexican market.

Me, too! My stomach is growling!!! I'm trying to hold on until my husband gets home so that we can eat together, but I'm not sure I'm going to make it!

WOW!!! My old stomping grounds!!! I will be going down to Tampa for vacation this year with the intent on eating at Columbia at least 2 or 3 times. The cuban sandwiches in the Tampa area are different from the Miami sandwiches. The history is pretty interesting on it.

You can find several of the recipes for Columbia Restaurant at their website.

Columbia Restaurant

Or you can buy the recipe book they have at the above website.

If my wife would go back I would be there in a heart beat. I miss Tampa. Well I actually miss my friends, the beach, and the CUBAN food.
