Uhm, with due respect Mayor ... it's better to be silent and thought of as ignant, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

"Turning point for the city?" Why is this a "turning point?" Cambridge will "come out stronger and be more unified?"

Lady Mayor, last I checked, the support for the white cop was overwhelming ... and you weren't in that number. In fact, the first thing you did was rush to apologize to Gates over the bad, white cops arrest.

The only way Cambridge will be more unified will be to toss this Mayor out with the next election. She's been shown to be racially biased and unable to resolve conflicts in an impartial manner.

I lost the source, but read (I believe on CNN) that the police have requested the city release both the 911 call and police transmissions to clear up allegations of racism on part of the 911 caller and officer.

Hopefully this happens. As stated before, the officer should follow thru with a defamation suit against those involved in smearing him. They should be held accountable and shouldn't be allowed to get by with it.

I had pretty much promised myself that I wouldn't reply to anymore of your posts because you just make me mad. But...I just wanted to respond to one thing you said in this post.

You mentioned that the professor used the word "whitey" in his application.

I don't think any of us have a defense for that, BUT...200+ years of institutionalized racism in the "land of the free and the home of the brave" can make a person say things that maybe you or I wouldn't say when we've NEVER experienced being slighted because of the color of our skin.

I understand where he's coming from and my only response to slurs like that is to do my part in creating an environment where he wouldn't say things like that.
