You've set up a false dilemma. There are other options you haven't considered.
I was referring back to Lafon's assertion that if you ask in faith, you will get what you ask for.

I'm with ya, Mizpeh... indeed, why even waste one's time asking God for something, if you doubt that he will give it to you? Moreover, why waste God's time in doing such a thing when there is no faith to receive?
Seems pretty simple to me...... ask, believe & then receive! The only limitation comes from the one doing these things [that's you or I], and not from the One who gives.
