Go to the app store and search for Open Advanced Task Killer. This turns off non-essential background programs and has improved my battery life immensely. I ran out of juice a lot myself the first few days and was thinking "man I need to be carrying a car battery with me at all times for this sucker!" but once I learned about the task killer and turning off WiFi and GPS when not being used things have gotten MUCH better.
