I'm not saying it's not a problem. But it's no more of a problem than going out into the world anywhere else. I work fast food. I see it and hear it there as much as I do at school. We don't live in a bubble, no matter how much we'd like to. If we're not preparing our children, it is our problem.
I was saying that preachers have their own problems with their worldview, just as professors do. And they get it wrong too. And when they get it wrong, it's a big mess.
This is where we humbly disagree. A student, hostage in a classroom by a professor who has authority and the benefit of having "knowledge", spending collectively 4 solid years of day-in, day-out teaching is not the same as a co-worker who flips burgers saying "God sucks."
I think you confuse "Worldview" with doctrines within the church.
The Unified Christian worldview should not be confused with Christian doctrine -- there is a distinct different.
I'm not confusing worldview for doctrine.

No they weren't.

I never said it did promise immunity.

I am definitely not dismissive.

So I think there is definitely a serious misunderstanding going on. Either I'm not being clear (anyone else wanna chime in on that one?) or you're reading something other than what I'm really saying.

God did it for us. Out of sheer generosity he put us in right standing with himself. A pure gift. He got us out of the mess we're in and restored us to where he always wanted us to be. And he did it by means of Jesus Christ. ~Romans 3:24 from The Message

We're definitely not connecting somehow.
And unfortunately, I have to go corrupt my brain some more and study vs trying to explain myself yet again. I'm going to have to leave this misunderstanding unresolved.

There's one detail that I am certainly not catching, in all this: GrowingPains, what exactly is the course of action you are recommending?
Nahkoe, I think I understand yours: it's for the church and parents to do a better job training the kids, so they can withstand the attacks on faith. Is that correct?

See, now there's your misunderstanding: I don't feel learning is corruption. So, sounds like we have gone a full revolution of misunderstanding.
I'm taking what you're saying and applying it. There were several comments you made, and I'm paraphrasing. So, by simply saying "I didn't say that" isn't enough, because I'm making a paraphrase of your posts. If I'm wrong, thanks for correcting me. If you don't believe that, and didn't say it, then great! Have a wonderful 4th of July and good day!

Timmy, I've understood Nahkoe's comments the same -- but they seemed to go beyond that, based on her statements. It was a straw man, if you will -- of course prevention is helpful, but the other part of this entire discussion was the "dangers" that are inherent with higher learning. The casualties are great. Some have "died" and others just simply walk "maimed."
Thinking idealistically that the average parent is going to keep up with Doctor Smith at Princeton University is wishful at best. Our parenting can help them 1) think critically, 2) prep them for what they will encounter as best we can and 3) equip them with a foundation. I'm certainly not arguing against that.
If I've misunderstood Nahkoe, then forgive me. It seems parenting was a fix-all, while not acknowledging the "evil professors" as one poster put it.
If this was a misunderstanding and we are arguing parallel points, well how 'bout that...

If you're concerned about your kids heading into something unprepared, then PREPARE THEM. No, it's not a promise that they won't deviate from the course you'd like them to stay on or hope they might take. It's a lot more effective than waiting until they're 17, 18 and going to college and deciding to pray for them. Definitely pray, but good grief! Give them something to hang onto, starting when they're young.
Is that more clearly stated?

I was more referring to the evil humanist professor of literature I need to please with my labors.
disclaimer: yes, I speak mostly tongue in cheek
Obviously I'm in no hurry to get to this. I really hate this class (the class, not the professor, although he's making me crazy too...being unprepared is so unprofessional!)
