I was a Monkeyman fan, but now with his dissing of CFL Football, as a big time fan of the BC Lions, I guess I just can't be his fan anymore. :tease

The BC Lions office and training field were located just down the street from our church in Surrey. I missed very few home games this year. The NFL has a smaller field, yet it takes them four downs to move the football from one end to the other, whereas in the CFL they only need three downs to get the job done. :)Well, I still am a fan of you, even though your defensive lineman couldn't tackle our kickers...or cheerleaders, he he he!!!!:stirpot

After all I am a NE Patriots fan! However, the CFL is still a very enjoyable sports event once you get into supporting a particular team.

BTW, you must be a Lindt Chocolate fan. They're not very sweet. I agree with you that chocolates and chocolate bars in Canada, as well as sweets in general are far too sweet.

Well I'm home with a sore throat and my toddler has a nasty cold. I didn't figure his Sunday school classmates would appreciate being sneezed and caughed all over.
Anyone else have it? It seems to be going around?

Hope church is great... it always seems to bust wide open when I'm not there. HAAA.

Nope.

Living in divine health down here in the south lands.

We trust the Lord and get a flu shot (And take vitamins, and wash our hands, and refuse to allow toddlers through the front door).

Right after a song, "More of You Jesus/Word Of God Speak" a reverent sweet anointing was felt, a tongues given and interpreted, then an old fashioned blow out, including....get this...A PRAYER LINE, 'member those???? Except, this one was done by the young people as the older saints marched through!
There were MANY visitors, that was exciting, and a baptism too...yup, you missed it.
We had an anointed prayer meeting on Saturday, 136 in attendance, and that same anointing just spilled over into today.

It must be my Jezzie Spirit.

Is it snowing down in the blessed south lands today?

It's trying to snow, but not having much success yet; kind-of-a snow and rain mixture.

It's on the edge of being uncomfortably warm (+1C) - a little too warm for much snow.

Sounds like you and your husband are really enjoying retirement so far. What's great is being able to go into a service where you have no responsibility and aren't carrying the burden for the whole thing ..... and just be able to worship, pray, sing, sit back and enjoy the preaching and teaching. What a great opportunity! I'm truly thankful God has given and allowed us this "pause" in our ministry. I believe it's divinely arranged and I plan to enjoy it as long as it lasts.

It's the first time in 34 years of ministry that we've had this kind of break. And I think it's interesting that we've settled temporarily into a church where a move of God is happening synonymously.

These kind of things don't just happen by "chance".

The man baptised this morning came out to Bible Study at the church because of our neighbour (who used to keep his children) who we brought to church.
He told his friend (our neighbour) that no one had ever told him he should be baptised before he came to the Bible studies.

I think it's neat how a new convert is preaching to someone who'd been attending a church for years. If you can get your new babes in the Lord to get into winning people for the Lord... you'll keep their fire burning.

Nothing makes a person feel anymore renewed in the Spirit, than when they see someone they brought, recieve. I think that's why we're supposed to be fishers of men... so our own walk never gets old or cold!

Nothing makes a pastor feel more happy and fulfilled either.

In all honesty, my husband has been the leader in the home in that respect. I'm a shy person by nature... and a home-body. I'd never leave home if I didn't have to sometimes. But hubby is a social butterfly (wonder where he got that from?? :-) And he usually initiates things and I kind of step in as the help-meet.
I've only won a couple of friends all on my own before.. most people are a joint effort between us. He could talk to the Pope I think HA.

I think every personality is different... but I find I have to constantly push myself out of my comfort zone.

No, I'd actually like to go but both my kids have been sick the last week and I'm still sick myself. I've got a nasty sinus cold and sore throat.

I think my neice (Lyndon's brother's daughter) might be going with Asst. Pastors daughter to the concert, which would be great. If I thought they would go (brother and wife) I would try to find a sitter and go myself too.

I was just razzing MM because he said ... "no comment"... so I edited my post to include the earplug smiley :-)

For those of you who don't frequent the other forums/threads.

I recieved this via email today:

*********
I have just learned that "Dr." Henry Morgantaler, the man who pioneered the fight for legalized abortion here in Canada, the man whose trial basically saw all laws pertaining to it's illegality stricken from the books, is being considered for The Order of Canada, a very prestigious Canadian award.

The National Post, a Canadian newspaper, is polling its readership, to ascertain their feelings about this. Please take 15 seconds to click on the link I'm providing and vote "NO".

I realize many of you are Americans, but there is no specification that you are excluded from taking part in the poll, so might I encourage you to do so.

Bad enough the man has personally murdered countless pre-born children, and has encouraged likewise of countless more - but to see him given such an award is simply appalling.

By the way, it is still shocking to many of us that this man, a proponent of death, is a survivor of the Holocaust.

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/v5/content/poll/static/nationalPoll.html

And do feel free to pass this along to others in your address book.

Thanks,
***

How wonderful that these young people have an event like this to attend that has the potential to change the course of their life as they make a choice to live for Jesus Christ with all their heart. For some it will be the weekend when they receive the power of the Holy Ghost to live out that commitment. I am looking forward to the services today!

Such positive posting here, TB...I'm excited about what God is doing.

You mentioned old songs and this one just dropped in my spirit...

His love has no limit, His grace has no measure,
His power no boundary known unto men,
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus,
He giveth and giveth and giveth again.

The pastors who were present were asked to stand and greet the congregation, then they asked the pastors wives to do the same. When it was my turn, I felt to share a thought that was still fresh on my mind from a thread I was involved in earlier in the morning.

While I was speaking, the spirit of prophecy came on Bro. Bustard and he called me out and began prophesying over me. Asked me to go out into the aisle of the church and asked the Pastor's wives to come and pray with me.

He called me out again later during his message and spoke a few more things to me. Then he spoke to me again after supper about what the Lord had shown him in regard to me personally. Powerful! :)

It was definitely in the divine will of God that we went to that meeting yesterday afternoon! The devil is an accuser and a liar but every word the Lord speaks to us is TRUTH! :happydance

How wonderful that these young people have an event like this to attend that has the potential to change the course of their life as they make a choice to live for Jesus Christ with all their heart. For some it will be the weekend when they receive the power of the Holy Ghost to live out that commitment. I am looking forward to the services today!

I hear Saturday was great as well, the thought he preached on sounded neat.
Sun was good, although I was distracted by my kids a bit, I was able to still get a lot out of it!

I had a pretty amazing thing happen yesterday in that service. :)

:happydance

This is wonderful!

This is wonderful! It certainly was! :)

Wonderful service tonight sis! Several receive the Holy Ghost. Not sure how many.

My husband prayed with 3 different people who began speaking in tongues while he was praying with them, but because we don't know the people that well weren't sure if they had ever spoken in tongues before or not.

One of the 3 was the new guy (tall with glasses) who was baptized a couple weeks ago. I don't think he had spoken in tongues before but my husband doesn't like to tell people they've received. He'd rather they tell HIM but if they're brand new they might not really know for sure just what is happening to them.

But he WAS speaking in tongues. :happydance

Now that I don't know.. but it's still wonderful!!! Rachel might know if that man had recieved it already... but I don't think he had, as yet.

I had to leave right about the time that Pastor got up to speak at the end of service... Lyndon drove me and the kids home (we live closeby) and went back up.

And I must say publicly and loudly... loudly and publicly...

Mrs. Monkeyman sang like I've never heard her sing before, this morning. She rocked that song. And I had never heard her sound so clear and powerful. It was wonderful and the song fit her voice beautifully!!! I was getting blessed from the song lyrics, and the singer too!

(ps.. Kathy does that song really well too, but I was just wowed by you Mrs MM... I had never heard you sound so powerful! You know.. that kind of sounds like a backhanded compliment but it's not meant to be... )

Speaking of poor Kathy... I spoke to her Saturday morning on the phone and her voice was completely gone. We need to pray for that throat of hers!

That is awesome.......his name is Mike.....and I don't think he had spoken in tongues before. I hope your husband will relay the great news to pastor. With so many in the altar, it is hard to keep track.

Fabulous weekend.....we were blessed......and thankful to have been involved!

When praying with people to receive the Holy Ghost baptism I like to emphasize to them that it is the power of the Holy Ghost that they are receiving and in most situations are experiencing at the moment, but like any language they need to allow the Holy Spirit to express Himself using their tongue, and lips, and voice. Once they begin to speak a few words I encourage them to continue until they have fluency. Mike was definitely speaking in tongues last night.

Also, a young man and woman standing in the aisle spoke in tongues as I prayed with them, but I'm not sure if it was their first time to speak. They had only stammering lips when I began praying with them. Some of you who know these people need to help confirm this with them and the pastor. Usually I would ask them for their name, but in these cases I didn't want to hinder the flow of the Spirit I felt moving upon them.

The power of God was there the entire weekend in a mighty manifestation, a deepness surrounded me wherever I went. On Sunday pm, a holy wave hit during rehearsal and each worship leader was anointed with a call to worship, I truly believe to a person, there were no performances except to Christ. When the liberty took over the service, and people began to look foolish, it just broke and folks were filled everywhere in the room. TB, I watched you from a distance, you have a rare form of altar working that does not work through everyone. I don't know where\when you picked that up but it is powerful to watch. I would feel sorry for a devil to get in your way when you have that anointing flowing (well, I wouldn't really feel sorry for it). Rachel, your worship is SO beautiful, you are amazing, you really are. Mrs.Monkey knows how I feel about her input this weekend, she is a warrior, I can't believe she actually hooked up with ME! When it is all said and done, to have 1 come to Christ after all that work it is enough, but to have so many...words cannot express how grateful I am.
And finally to all those dumb people who say Canadians are reserved...ummm, I have seen a whole different side to them than you have!!!
Pastor Justin is quite the dude (and ladies, quite the catch, he he) and to all of the pastors on AFF, if you can, next year, GIT your kids to YX 09!!!!!!!!! Especially if they are seeking the HG!!! Woooooooooooo

I will be posting videos soon...

I wasn't planning on staying and sitting during the rehearsal... but it was so moving.. before even the wave came, it was so apparent it was about to.. When he said that he wanted to get the technical stuff out of the way.. it was so apparent from the first time the choir sang the song.. It was such a deep, heavy presence. Breathtaking that the God of all glory would take such an interest in us.

You both are so talented.. CCC is blessed with its ministry team.

Hey, Monkeyman, you were getting with it on that bass this weekend. Love it!
It was so funny what Tim said about how dangerous you might be if you didn't have that guitar in your hand when you worship.

You wouldn't have known Bro. CB Dudley probably. At the old Harvey Camp, on the lake, he would be in the prayer room praying people through to the Holy Ghost. I used to follow him around just to be in his presence and observe what he was doing. I recall praying one night that if it was possible for his mantle to fall on someone I was a candidate to receive that anointing when it comes to praying with people to receive the Holy Ghost. One of the gifts he possessed was to build a person's faith to receive to receive. I don't claim to have the same level of "helps" that Bro. Dudley had, but I love to pray for people to receive the Holy Ghost.

Bro. Leaman passed many years ago, and I'm not sure if he is related to HQs Bro. Leaman or not.

Felicity and TB may know something about all of this, as I think Bro. Paul L was on the missions board or Director or something back in the day.

A season of harvest...that's a wonderful thought, Sistergirl...I may have to study on that.

Don't be surprised if you see those words again on this board...;)

I believe Jack Leaman's position was Promotional Director for FMD. He was responsible for missionary schedules, and promoting Faith Promise, etc. We had a chance to speak with Bro. and Sis. Leaman at the GC in October. They both seem to be doing well. They are are great couple. We always appreciated his leadership.

BTW, Bro. & Sis. Jack Leaman at CCC are also a fantastic couple.

Just a slight correction, Garry Tracy is Kathy's uncle...
Julie (and Peter) Long's father is Garry... (Julie and Peter Long are assistants at Mark Drive still I believe)
So, same Tracy family.. only her uncle not her father.

:)

I heard tonight, that Rachel's oldest sister was in a car accident today. Her husband has had a severe medical problem the last few months... and they are in Montreal due to that... I don't know details... but I know her sister was hurt and this is the last thing that family needs. Could we please pray for them... they have two small children and the husband has been unable to work because of his health and now this.

God is in control but I really wonder if maybe he's waiting on some people to start calling on him in fervency to heal and turn this around.

(I don't want to name Rachel's family members without her permission, some of you would already know, but please pray)

Didn't HP go to Calgary? Is he the one.. or is there another one elsewhere.Alberta needs to become the next "mission" field for the Atlantic District. :) There are so many young preachers who aren't going out into ministry anywhere. Someone needs to light a fire under them about reaching Canada with the gospel! My understanding from talking with HP is that the Alberta District wouldn't give him a transfer of credentials. He was told to keep his credential renewals through the Atlantic District. Now that he's the only UPC church, this shouldn't be a problem any longer.

Does anyone know if RR in New Westminster left the UPCI?

Hmmmm - that's interesting. A dose of Atlantic District style UPC in Alberta would be good for the UPC here - or not - depending on one's perspective.

I am responsible for anything played over the airwaves. I choose format, programs, music, on-air talent, and much more. I will also be doing the morning show. The board brought me in last Wednesday, laid hands on me, and asked me to be led by the Holy Ghost in my decisions for the station!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today I had a staff meeting with board members present, and my pastor and a friend of mine who pastors laid hands on, and prayed over the staff.

Sea Dogs face off against Rocket in playoffs
Hockey Saint John team in QMJHL playoffs for the first time in franchise history

Published Monday March 17th, 2008

HALIFAX, N.S. - It's taken 210 games, but the Saint John Sea Dogs are about to give their fans something they've never seen before.

The Sea Dogs will begin their inaugural playoff run this weekend against the Prince Edward Island Rocket.

Saint John will start the playoffs on home ice at Harbour Station by virtue of its second place finish in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Eastern Division.

Saint John capped off the regular season in Halifax with a 4-3 win over the Mooseheads on Sunday.

The Sea Dogs finished the season with a record of 41-22-4-3.

"The Border" is one of the hottest new programs on Canadian television.

Full episodes are available HERE. (http://www.cbc.ca/theborder/) (Warning: If you click this link, you will be accessing television programming)

I do not recommend clicking or not clicking the link.

I've only posted it for the anti-television, pro-internet crowd.

If you're reading this with a high speed link - you are staring into a television screen. :runhills

Have a nice day. :Nhl_check

A John Grisham Secret

For the Week of February 18, 2008
by Rubel Shelly

Because my teaching career involves so much mandatory reading, I don't get to do a lot of pleasure reading. There is just too little time for short stories or poetry. I typically only get to the things friends have already read and are now recommending. They are my book reviewers. They keep me from wasting time.

Read the rest HERE. (http://www.rubelshelly.com/content.asp?CID=19823)

Let's see.

Hockey, television, and John Grisham.

What did I miss?

Oops! Of course, how could I have? Religion!!!

I was blessed by listening to a sermon (via internet) preached by your third cousin, once removed, on the topic "Identity Theft." There's something inspiring about a whole new generation of McPreachers.

This thread has become way too quiet.

Let's try this on for size and fit.

I have been told by two well placed AD ministers (Not kinfolk - well I don't think that they're relatives, but this being NB, I should say that I'm relatively certain that they're not related to me) that, under the present administration, the AD will not license a minister who does not believe the "Water and Spirit" doctrine.

If this is the case, and I believe that they would know what they are talking about, listen closely and you can hear eighty years of AD heritage gurgling down an American drain.

I'm just wondering why "THE NO LONGER AFFILIATED" is missing from the Ministerial Statistics page of the recent Forward Magazine.

John Grisham.

I have recently been introduced to Grisham and although I have not been a big fan of that style of writing I am quickly becoming hooked!!

I've got a new favorite preacher for my list.

Bro Jerry Dean.

I would have to totally agree, he preached 3 awesome messages at Men's Conference. Did anyone see that ball or is it still out of the park!!

This is new?

When I came of age in the AD there wasn't any requirement that a new minister believe the "Water and Spirit" doctrine. The manual was the benchmark for belief, and it didn't/doesn't require adherence to the W&S view.

If W&S is the only doctrinal position accepted in the AD today, there has been a paradigm shift take place.

An excellent tactical move on someone's part.

Why add to the momentum of the WPF schism?

Down here in the south lands, where people live righteous lives, we have very little snow left. Check it out. (http://www.gnb.ca/0113/cameras/rothesay-cam-e.asp)
