Down here in the south lands, where people live righteous lives, we have very little snow left. Check it out. (http://www.gnb.ca/0113/cameras/rothesay-cam-e.asp)

Yes... but our air is fit to breath up here. :)

This thread has become way too quiet.

Let's try this on for size and fit.

I have been told by two well placed AD ministers (Not kinfolk - well I don't think that they're relatives, but this being NB, I should say that I'm relatively certain that they're not related to me) that, under the present administration, the AD will not license a minister who does not believe the "Water and Spirit" doctrine.

If this is the case, and I believe that they would know what they are talking about, listen closely and you can hear eighty years of AD heritage gurgling down an American drain.

I am happy to report that I have learned that while the AD does allow new ministers to believe the "Water and Spirit" doctrine, it does not require it for membership. :bliss

So when can we expect your application?:D

There's no good way to answer that question.

If I make a strong statement like, "When Hades places an order for Zambonis," I'm labelled bitter.

If I don't make a strong statement, I'm labelled a pig pen prodigal pining for Father's house.

So I'll say, "When I come to the conclusion that an application would add to my happiness."

The problem I've got is that I am outrageously happy as I am, so, if joining added to my happiness, I'd probably be over the line into sinfully happy, and, if joining made me less happy than I am, I'd be a fool to join. That be my conundrum.

Eureka!

I figured it out.

When I meet a preacher that's happier than I am, I'll ask him for an application.

(I sure hope that if he's not Pentecostal, he's at least Protestant)

A little Canadian humour for you!

An American decided to write a book about famous churches around the world. So he bought a plane ticket and took a trip to Orlando, thinking that he would start by working his way across the USA from South to North.

On his first day he was inside a church taking photographs when he noticed a golden telephone mounted on the wall with a sign that read '$10,000 per call'.

The American, being intrigued, asked a priest who was strolling by what the telephone was used for. The priest replied that it was a direct line to heaven and that for $10,000 you could talk to God. The American thanked the priest and went along his way.

Next stop was in Atlanta. There, at a very large cathedral, he saw the same golden telephone with the same sign under it. He wondered if this was the same kind of telephone he saw in Orlando and he asked a nearby nun what its purpose was. She told him that it was a direct line to heaven and that for $10,000 he could talk to God.

“O.K., thank you,” said the American .

He then traveled to Indianapolis, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Boston, and New York. In every church he saw the same golden telephone with the same '$10,000 per call' sign under it.

The American, upon leaving Vermont decided to travel up to Canada to see if Canadians had the same phone. He arrived in Canada, and again, in the first church he entered, there was the same golden telephone, but this time the sign under it read '25 cents per call.' The American was surprised so he asked the priest about the sign. "Father, I've traveled all over America and I've seen this same golden telephone in many churches. I'm told that it is a direct line to Heaven, but in the US the price was $10,000 per call. Why is it so cheap here?"

The priest smiled and answered, “You're in Canada now, son - it's a local call.”

MapleLeaf... were you at a hockey game last night?

Nope!

I went down to Harbour Station and watched the Sea Dogs dump pucks in the net for sixty minutes.

There was another team on the ice, but they didn't really seem to grasp the point of the game; I don't think that anybody got around to telling them that they were supposed to try and stop the Sea Dogs from scoring goals.

And no fights - it was something, but it wasn't a hockey game.

(The Tim Hortons' tea was the best part of the evening.)

When they find a real team to play against the Dogs, there'll be some hockey in the Port City.

It sounds like you're a week behind.

The birthday deal was during the final game of the regular season.

That game was against the Moncton Wildcats, and was a decent game.

The Sea Dogs replaced their goalie after a couple of early game goals by the Wildcats, but, last night, he was back on his game, making some nice saves.

Your goalie did make some nice saves last night... glad to hear he was better than before lol... I'll leave it at that. HA.

We'd love to make it to more games, but it just isn't going to happen. I hope they go all the way!

Were you in the lower bowl? Close to the glass where they come in at the first of the game? I think I may have seen you after all but it didn't register at the time.
Too busy trying not to choke on our day old popcorn. I knew I should have gotten the nachos!

Yes, that was me... I also had my big "number one" finger and shaved "Sea Dogs" into the side of my head for the occasion.

Well Glory. Small world for hockey lovers in NB.

A decade behind, indeed!!

Churches are now organizing "bowling night socials"!!

The movie theater is still frowned upon, at least publicly - if you go, you have to drive to another city and hope you don't run into the brethren from the local assembly!! ha ha!

Or, do what has become absolutely acceptable - wait until the movie-theater-offering comes out on video, and go rent it!! You're seeing the same thing, only six months late on a smaller screen. Somehow this makes sense to people? Give me the big screen any day! What is important is that you are a Christian in what you watch - it matters not where the viewing takes place.

God has given us the Holy Spirit to guide us in all our ways which includes how we entertain ourselves. I realize that life would be so much easier if we all enjoyed the same things and disliked the same things. Then the golfer wouldn't judge the hockey fan, and the movie goer wouldn't condemn the person who spends his or her time being entertained on the internet, etc. :) I do believe we can be led by the Spirit in what we embrace of this world, so that we are not led away from our devotion to God in our need for a social life, which is also important to being a balanced person.

To Elisabeth, Maple Leaf, and Barb,

It's nice to know that there are still some sensible folks out there who truly believe the Spirit can lead and guide us on a daily basis! I personally believe it is more than just being led by the Spirit. I happen to believe that the Word of God is true when it says in Titus 2:11-12 "For the grace of God has appeared bring salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in this present age."(ESV)

When we have a proper understanding of the grace of God, we know that we are saved, not by any works that we have done, but by grace through faith, yet having taken on the very nature of Christ, grace trains us in how to live in such a way that our lifestyle is a reflection of who we are in Christ, so that we are not embarrassing ourself and Christ as we represent the kingdom of God on earth.

I couldn't make it this year.My wife couldn't go either, after a busy week working at the school and the radio station, she played for our choir last night at the section 4 youth rally, got up early this morning for work day at CCC, played at a funeral for a dear elderly saint, and now we are going in to do the music for prayer meeting....and yet she still looks hot after all of this, woohoo! She is also playing for both services tomorrow, I hope she has time to do my laundry, cooking, and babysitting!!!! he he he

Monk, do you have access to XM radio?! I recently leased a new car, and have XM for 3 months. I'm thinking of signing up for it...the Spirit station is our kind of music, brotherman, and they play a lot of 'old school'.

The XM station plays a good mix, I think...it was funny the other day. An elderly woman called in a request for "Rev. James Cleveland singing I Stood On the Banks of Jurden." I cracked up...

Btw, I work in electronics and used to make the Sirius and XM antennas when they first came out...just a little side note there.

We don't usually have a lot of preliminaries or announcements, just a LOT of worship, the choir stays up the whole time. It is a workout!!! We did stop the service to recognize our quizzers who placed 2nd in the Northeast!

The songs I listed would have been done during the entire service including offering and our altar service...

The Bible says that if we delight ourselves in the Lord He will give us even the desires of our heart. Well, on May 31st I will be doing a Miles For Missions Bike-a-thon to raise funds for New Direction China Ministries. I will ride (translation = PEDAL) from the church we planted in Woodstock to Fredericton, which is 100KM.

I have six weeks to get in shape for this. I needed a helmet before I could begin riding my bike, but didn't have the funds for this extra expense right now. On Monday I received a call requesting me to sing at a funeral on Wednesday. I was given an honorarium that I was not expecting at all that covers the cost of a new helmet.

Praise the Lord!

I have been blessed to know many great men of God, men of whom this world was not worthy. My pastor, Lloyd Williams, RA Beesley, AW Post, CB Dudley, MF Urquhart, HD McNair, George Shalm, Jimmy Burns, and many, many others. Our Pentecostal heritage in NB is rich and deep.

Along with them I could list an even longer list of laymen and women that I have known who have shown me what it means to be a Christian. It's a season to celebrate blessing and my life has been richly blessed by God and His people.

There will never ever be another CB Dudley. He was an original. I loved him very much! :heartI had never heard of Bro. Dudley before reading these posts some time ago. However, this morning I was looking through a book we have, Profiles Of Pentecostal Preachers, and his bio is there.

Fascinating reading to say the least, and I'm sure the writer didn't begin to tell the tale.

He really was a great man of God... a man, but mighty in God. And he did have quite a gift of laying on of hands to recieve the Holy Ghost.
He was a straight shooter who never minced his words.

Bro. C.B. Dudley made an an impression on me as a pioneer church planter along the Miramichi River. It takes a special gift to plant a church and he planted several. And he didn't go to a church planting seminar to learn how to do it. He just went forth and preached the gospel with passion and the anointing of God upon him.

Brother Dudley was truly great in God.

On another note, the walking trail behind my house is covered with water. I just took a picture of two ducks swimming up where the trail was.

I heard they have moved people out of Queen Street and shut power down to some buildings...

The Heritage Centre nearby has the basement flooded and most of it's parking lot.

I think our basement is safe, we're close but I think we're up a couple or three feet further than the projected floodwaters will get to.

And.. of course Jemseg and Maugerville are really a mess right now.

God is moving in an extraordinary way at Capital Community Church. I have a witness in my spirit with Bro. Morton Bustard when he prophesied last night that God is taking CCC to a new level of spirituality. I believe God is responding to the hunger and thirst demonstrated by the number of people turning out for Saturday night prayer services. I like what Bro. Bustard said about not being able to push a river, and, because a move of the Spirit is the river of God flowing among us, all we can do is flow with it.

I'm sure the feeling was the same you had when TB was baptised. It's like one of your children in the Lord.

Truly Blessed, You are so right.. God is responding to hunger and thirst at CCC. If we can keep ourselves focused and not veer off from the path of prayer, fasting and worship, we'll see more than we could have hoped for... I do believe!

The annual Canada Conference took place in Winnipeg last week. It was great to be able to go and reconnect with some old friends and of course make some new.

While the conference was, as was expected, smaller in attendance than last year, there was a tremendous spirit of unity and expectation that prevailed. Each message, from Bro. Dillon the first night, Bro. Andy Nieman (what a story) and Bro. Andrew Dickinson the first morning, Bro. Brian Abernathy the second night (even though he's from Indiana the Bro. can preach) and of course the finale by Bro. Granville MacKenzie dovetailed together.

There were great reports of what is happening in Newfoundland - Bro. Hughey (not sure of the spelling) an evangelist from Missouri has been there for the past 6 weeks under the auspices of GHMD and has been stirring things up with door knocking etc. In one church which had an average attendance of 6 - after being there a week they had 38 on Saturday night and 27 on Sunday night. In church after church similar things happening - in Newfoundland!

Oh yeah -- we also raised 40k for evangelism in Canada - to bring prospector/harvester type evangelists into small churches and some of our smaller districts. Looks like we will have two campaigns - one in Canadian Plains and another somewhere else to be decided - where an evangelist will come in for 2 months to help these smaller churches.

Central Canadian District did a great job hosting.

First I have heard of it. I'm more than a little nervous of the school days of my children that are fast approaching.

Reminds me of the Hemphill song from years back.

"Can you see the clock, from where you stand?
Can you tell the hour by the pointing of the hand?
Night is fast approaching, there are shadows in the land.
Can you see the clock, from where yous stand?"

I think our daylight hours in which to work are slipping away.

The question is not whether or not JW is a Trinitarian. The unanswered questions is: Is the Miramichi Valley Church rebaptizing people who were previously baptized in Jesus Name? And, I'd be curious to know if this is a common practice among other Southern Baptist Churches. Whether JW is, in Bullwinkle's words, "a part of that" is not really any concern of mine.

To my knowledge JW baptizes only in Jesus Name.
Dave Storey attended Sunset at least briefly.
I heard rumors of oneness people going to Daves because they liked the service.
Rebaptizing? Seems a stretch for a Southern Baptist unless these were people baptized as young children who now say they didn't understand what they were doing.

(that's no insult, all my blood comes from over home)

Just wanted to let all of our Canadian friends know that Sis Karen (Howe) Mersereau passed away this morning. She was diagnosed with cancer approx 2 weeks ago. Another saint has made it home, "precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints"!

Sis M, is this lady related to the Howes from New Hampshire?

I had the privilege of working with Karen at the Diner in Boisetown. We had such a good time together. She played the keyboard at church while I played the piano.
Karen was a truly beautiful person.
Even when she had a trial you'd see the Howe twinkle in her eyes.

Her daughters are both beautiful as well. Kind hearted.

I cried some tears today.

Ou sont-ils les Canadiens?

Over here enjoying the comedy that we call politics in Canada.

Prime Minister Harper has dared to suggest shutting down the $1.95 per vote that's keeping the Liberal's leaky boat afloat.

Smiling Jack Layton will consider forming an opposition coalition to govern, but only if Stephane Dion doesn't become Prime Minister.

They've consulted with sponsorship Jean to see if there is a way to crown Michael Ignatieff (If anybody can pull it off, Teflon Jean can).

Then it appears that the Liberal/ NDP coalition may need the approval of Gilles Duceppe to create their frankensteinian government.

Poor Gilles, he'll feel compelled to rattle his separatist sabre, but not too hard lest he lose his good government job.

God save the Queen.

Texas politics can be quite amusing, too. Back in 2003, some Demos fled the state so there wouldn't be a quorum to vote on Repubs' redistricting plan (blatant gerrymandering, of course). Wait. It gets weirder. State troopers were sent to find the AWOL lawmakers and arrest them. On a rumor that a private plane was used to escape (it wasn't - they used buses), federal agencies were enlisted to help find it, apparently on the ruse that the plane was missing, as in possibly crashed or hijacked. Well, the crack investigators caught up with the "fugitives" in Oklahoma, but they didn't have jurisdiction there. So they asked them to return voluntarily. They declined. :lol

All I know is this, if the Government falls on Friday as it looks it will, the Governor General better let another election (as distasteful as that is) & let us kick the Block, NDP, & Liberals on the street rather than let the 3 stooges take over Parliament!

Now ask me what I really feel!:christmoose

I'm angry too.

Those other leaders are not doing the "will" of the people, they are looking for power any way they can get it.

On a happier note. God is doing some wonderful things in Mville. Four children baptised Sunday AM, a young adult baptised Sun PM, my neighbours son recieved the HG Sun PM and someone else as well. My neighbours have only been in for a little over a year now.
