If a child is called to preach (and that has happened), I believe in training them while they are young. I would say that you have to start slow. Most (but by no means all) who are raised in church will know by the time they are between 10-13 years of age.
The way to start them most often would be to have them start reading a passage from the Bible during service, maybe giving a short message during youth service on occasion, and getting them very active in the care of the church building. Then when they have a few more years of experience, they are ready to start preaching away from their home church. However, it would the pastor and young person who would be determining how fast or slow to move.
However, setting up a child this young is asking for problems.
