may i draw your attention to

Ecclesiastes ch9

5 For the living know that they will die;
But the dead know nothing,
And they have no more reward,
For the memory of them is forgotten.

6 Also their love, their hatred, and their envy have now perished;
Nevermore will they have a share
In anything done under the sun.

10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.
You're not thinking categorically. The dead know nothing with regards to what? What aspect of the dead know nothing? They have no more reward with regards to what? What spect of the dead do not have any more reward?

Also, if nevermore will they have a share in anything under the sun... doesn't this discount the notion of resurrection? Again, we have to think categorically. In what way will the dead no longer have any share in anything under the sun?

really what difference does it make.
Truth vs. Error. Some atheists who believe that death brings oblivion will ask, if they are just going to be obliterated from existence... why worry??? They can choose to live as they please, indifferent to God and faith in Christ. Because, what difference will it make?

Quote:
How does it it effect your salvation, its arguing over things that really will not have a effect on your relationship with Christ.
Defending truth effects our relationship with God. However, the topic doesn't directly effect my salvation. But, as I have illustrated above, it does effect the salvation of those yet to embrace Christ.

I personally dont believe in soul sleep but there is many scriptures that support that way of belief. to me it doesnt matter Its not a heaven or hell issue, as some make it out to be.
Let me play Devil's Advocate. Pretend I'm an atheist who believes that death brings oblivion. I ask.. If soul sleep and annihiliationism is true... what's the difference? I choose oblivion. It's what I believe in anyway.
