I was watching a video of a girl and her father and they were "prepping". She had this sadness in her eyes that I thought was sad. Amen, the pendulum swings in both directions in Christianity, as far as my father's food hoarding, didn't turn me off, because my father never pushed the whole hoarding issue off on his children. He believed what he was doing was a necessary evil and he relayed it that way to everyone. My neighbor who built a bomb shelter, was called a tomb by my father because he understood the devastation of a nuclear attack, and believed a nuclear holocaust would level most, if not all of New York.
I'm not turned off by bugging out, or preppers, what I'm turned off by is the huddled masses fear of the unknown, and how Hollywood and mainstream media has manipulated the John Q T.V. watcher by working on his fear of the unknown.
Everything from Armageddon, UFOs, shape shifting reptilian world leadership, dispensationalism, Illuminists, Freemasons, nuclear war, economic failure worldwide, collapse of the society, or just simply the end of the world as we know it. All this becomes the focus, and while some say they will abide till, the end, others react in some bizarre ways which cause friends, family, and neighbors to back away ever so slowly. Then, when ample enough time passes, 1959 to 1990 in my father's case, we look back to see what did the old man think when his storage room which was never put into use? We loved him, and understood he wanted to protect everyone in case of a nuclear war, but as time marched on, we found out that neither side wanted to push the button, and Russia never had the ability to fire their nuclear weapons to strike us before we hit them. Information after the fall of the Berlin wall showed that after World War II Russia was so devastated that she couldn't attack America, but that was never relayed to the American people, instead the fear of nuclear war was held to our heads, to keep the populace in suspended animation, and out of the hair of the economic elite. Fear of a Boogeyman has always been used by many a society to keep its slave classes steady on the road to Serfdom. Fear is a choice, and one should be able to run towards the Goliaths who try to intimidate, and sink the stone dead center into their foreheads. We have to be able to discern between fact and fantasy, there is no Tony Stark, there are no Orcs climbing out of middle earth, but there are disingenuous greedy men, who want to push forth their socialist fascist agendas to control the world's money, oligarchs who through their plutocracies work to keep their people in wage slavery. I may never see their down fall, maybe even my daughters might never seen their kingdoms topple, but I hope my grandchildren will. Yet, while those things loom around us, we need to keep the main thing the main thing and have the power of the Holy Ghost in our lives, the same power which enable the early Christians to endure to the end, and Christians throughout a 2,000 year history to overcome all sorts of tribulations. We should hoard the Holy Ghost in our lives, more than food, and guns, under our beds.
