Matt 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

THIS is what Jesus calls his new testament church to (Love)

So I ask again, can one fulfill the scripture by loving their enemy, blessing the one cursing you, doing good to the one hating you, and praying for the one despitefully using and persecuting you.....................and at the same time blow them away with a shotgun??

The Beatitudes is an example of how the Pharisees fell short of the law not a guide for how we live today.

Lev 19:18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I [am] the LORD.

This is an old testament principle. Love your neighbor, hate your enemy. How many times do we read in Psalms of David asking God to destroy his enemies?

But you are right...............eye for an eye may not fit into it as well.

Yup. For now I have a baseball bat. Two, actually. My son has one downstairs in case he has to take over for his fat and tired Dad. Lord, I hope I never have to deal with some nut breaking into my house. I did have a fella attack one of my girlfriends when I lived in CA, though. I pretty much grabbed him, picked him up off the ground, and slammed him down on the sidewalk. He didn't get back up until after the paramedics came and treated his broken nose and whatever other pain he earned that day. That was around 20 years ago. Probably would have a hard time pulling that off again, against a younger man at least.

Yes, and yet this is the same law that provided for the avenger of blood.

This also applies to our conversation.

Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

Rico is playing the part of a mirror, so OP can see how he looks.

Not sure I am getting your point.

Jesus plainly stated that the old way was to love the neighbors, and hate the enemy.

But the new and living way was to not only love the neighbor, but love the enemy too. And even go further by demonstrating that love in blessing the one cursing you, doing good to the one hating you, and praying for the one despitefully using and persecuting you.

If he beats my door down and attacks my family, I'm gonna introduce him to my Louisevile Slugger.
*bump* for St.Matt. You asked and I answered. No response from you? Hmmmmmm?
