We have been a 3 Droid family since mid-February, and have no regrets.
I switched us to Verizon, with their rate plans and device options as the key attractors. We have been completely thrilled with the Moto Droid devices and after two months I have few issues with it.
One deficiency, if you're a business user, is that the email application (not Gmail) is not full-featured. For example, I have my phone linked to our corporate Exchange server. There were some security certificate compilation issues to deal with, but once those were resolved I've had no connectivity problems. But, the email application does not allow a user to create a signature (a legal requirement of some companies), and does not allow you to accept/decline calendar invitations. These seem like pretty important features that the Google app dev team left out of a pretty important app.
The 2.1 update that they just pushed two weeks ago didn't do anything to resolve it. Hopefully 3.0 will fix it.
If you're not using your Droid for business, you'll not have a problem with this.
