True. That's how we look at it. We got into a bad car accident a few years ago. Immediately after it happened my wife and I smelled raw gasoline. We looked at each and both said, "Get the kids out of the car" at the same time. My son followed his mom out the door, she got the baby out of car seat in the back seat, and I was busy freeing our oldest daughter. Never once did it cross our minds that the car could have caught fire and killed either me or her. All we were thinking about were the children.
Oh yeah... there is just nothing that trumps the love for your child.
That said, when it comes to living, we must take times for our spouses of course. Making sure there is time without the children, to cultivate the relationship. But when it comes down to saving a life, my children are going to come first, everytime.
