And I think we do need to ask ourselves..... if God did not intend for women to cut their hair, why did he not mention it anywhere in the entire Old Testament, including the very detailed instructions in the law? Before Paul wrote his letter, how were women to know they weren't supposed to cut their hair (if that was what he was saying)? He didn't write that letter as if what he was saying to them was something new.
I really do believe that this is something we seriously need to ask ourselves, and not just wave that question away.

"Doth not even nature teach you" should tell you something about this passage. It shouldn't have been an issue, but some were seeking to argue about the matter. That's why Paul said, "We have no other custom that this". Jesus also taught some things that were not mentioned in the Old Test. such as looking upon a woman to lust after her. Need I go on?
