But regardless.....I don't like the propensity to disrespectfulness among many Christians towards our government leaders. It's extremely clear in the New Testament and in early church history that "The Church" didn't give a rip about what government did. They followed it, respected it, prayed for it, and at times, died at the hands of government. But with the advent of groups like "The Moral Majority", we as Christians have become comfortable with tearing down our leaders by name.
Historically, the movement of Jesus Christ has never prospered so greatly as when it was so greatly opposed by established government.
If something is done in our modern Christian culture, that the culture doesn't like, we go nuts with petition campaigns and voter registration drives. But when Jesus was crucified, the ultimate anti-Christian act, no one organized a voter drive or attempted to bring down the government. What did they do? They turned the world upside down by taking the gospel to the ends of the earth.
Let's say an establishment of "ill-repute" comes to town. There are two ways to bring it down....1) Protest, boycott, do petitions, etc., or 2) Turn the establishment into a mission field, bring the customers to faith in Christ and the establishment of "ill-repute' will be forced to close because of lack of customers.
I said all this earlier and Ferd said I was "preaching at him" and Admin even publicly rebuked me. But history can't be re-written on this subject.
